Attraction
Burj Khalifa
The world's tallest building, rising 828 metres over Downtown Dubai, with observation decks on levels 124, 125 and 148 open to ticketed visitors.
The former Expo 2020 site, now a walkable district with pavilions such as Terra and Vision, the domed Al Wasl Plaza and landscaped public spaces.
Good to know
After Expo 2020 closed, its site in the south of the city was turned into Expo City Dubai, a permanent district of offices, homes and visitor attractions. The best known is Terra, the former sustainability pavilion, which explores the natural world and our impact on it, and the Vision pavilion. A combo ticket covers both.
Much of the public realm is free to wander, including the vast trellis dome of Al Wasl Plaza, which hosts projections and events, and the shaded walkways and gardens around it. The district is well connected: the Dubai Metro runs directly to it, there are around 9,500 parking bays, and yellow buggies shuttle visitors between sights. It is a long ride from the old town, so make it a half-day trip and check the official site for event dates.
