Attraction
Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood
A preserved creekside quarter of wind-tower houses and narrow lanes, now home to galleries, small museums, cafés and the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding.
The world's tallest building, rising 828 metres over Downtown Dubai, with observation decks on levels 124, 125 and 148 open to ticketed visitors.
Good to know
Opened in January 2010, Burj Khalifa reaches 828 metres to its roof and anchors the whole of Downtown Dubai. Most visitors come for At the Top, the observation experience on levels 124 and 125, roughly 450 metres up, while the pricier At the Top Sky ticket adds level 148 at around 555 metres and a lounge stop on the way.
The view takes in the Dubai Fountain directly below, the desert edge to the east and the coastline and Palm Jumeirah to the west. Sunset slots sell out first and cost more, so book online well ahead if that is your aim; an early morning visit is usually quieter and the air is often clearer. Entry is through The Dubai Mall, so allow time to find the lower-ground ticket desks.
