Restaurant
Disfrutar
Three-Michelin-star restaurant in the Eixample run by former elBulli chefs Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas, serving long, playful tasting menus.
A grand Catalan restaurant near Port Vell, open since 1836 and known above all for its paellas and rice dishes, served daily from lunch until midnight.
Good to know
Founded in 1836, 7 Portes is one of the city's longest-running restaurants, and its large, traditional dining rooms give it a sense of occasion without stiffness. It sits by Pla de Palau, between the Gothic Quarter and Barceloneta.
Rice is the speciality: paellas, black rice and soupy rice dishes, alongside traditional cannelloni, seafood and grilled meat. Portions are generous, and the long, continuous opening hours make it useful for a late lunch or an early dinner when other kitchens are closed. Book for weekends and larger groups, and leave room for a Catalan dessert such as crema catalana.
