Café
Cafè de l’Òpera
A historic café on La Rambla opposite the Liceu opera house, trading on this site since the 19th century and open from breakfast until late.
The original coffee bar of Nømad, the Barcelona speciality roaster founded by Jordi Mestre, tucked into a quiet passage near the Palau de la Música.
Nømad began with Jordi Mestre serving coffee from a cart in London's markets before he brought the idea home, opening this coffee lab in Passatge Sert in 2014. The company now roasts its own beans in Poblenou, and this tiny bar remains the place where coffee is the only focus.
Expect carefully made espresso drinks and filter coffee from a rotating list of single origins, with staff happy to talk through what is on. There is little seating, so treat it as a stop on a walk around Sant Pere and El Born. It opens on weekdays only; at weekends, try another of Nømad's cafés.
