Why we recommend it

Chelsea Market fills the ground floor of a historic industrial complex where Nabisco once baked biscuits, and the brick walls, pipes and ironwork are still on show. Today the long concourse is lined with food stalls and shops, making it a good place to graze or pick up lunch before or after walking the High Line, which passes right by.

Longstanding names include Lobster Place for seafood and a raw bar, Amy's Bread and Los Tacos No. 1, alongside newer arrivals and pop-ups. The concourse is open from 7am to 10pm. Weekday mornings are calmest; lunchtimes and weekends get very crowded.
