Thing to do
Top of the Rock
Three tiers of observation decks atop 30 Rockefeller Plaza give unobstructed views of Central Park and a front-on look at the Empire State Building.
An immersive, mirror-lined observation experience at the top of One Vanderbilt, beside Grand Central Terminal, with glass-floored ledges and art installations.
Good to know
SUMMIT occupies the upper floors of One Vanderbilt, the skyscraper next to Grand Central Terminal. Rather than a conventional viewing deck, it combines city views with mirrored rooms and art installations, so the skyline appears multiplied in every direction. The optional Ascent ride is an all-glass lift that climbs the outside of the building.
The entrance is reached through Grand Central Terminal rather than the One Vanderbilt lobby. It is open daily from 8am to midnight, with last entry at 10:30pm. Wear trousers or shorts rather than a skirt because of the reflective floors, and book a timed slot online in advance.
