Café
Sant’Eustachio Il Caffè
Founded in 1938 near the Pantheon, Sant'Eustachio roasts its beans over wood and is famous for its sweet, creamy Gran Caffè.
A historic coffee roaster and bar beside the Pantheon, La Casa del Caffè Tazza d'Oro dates from 1944 and is known for its coffee granita.
Good to know
La Casa del Caffè Tazza d'Oro began as a coffee roastery in 1944 and its bar, a few steps from Piazza della Rotonda, has been a favourite of Romans and visitors ever since. The counter fills quickly with people stopping for a quick espresso or cappuccino between sights.
In warm weather the house speciality is granita di caffè, crushed iced coffee often served with whipped cream, a refreshing alternative to gelato; in winter, hot chocolate takes over. Pay at the till first, then hand your receipt to the barista, as is customary in Roman bars. Bags of house-roasted beans and speciality teas are sold to take home, and the Pantheon is literally around the corner.

The company started as a coffee roastery in 1944.
