Most visitors stay in Miraflores, Barranco or San Isidro, all a short taxi ride from each other and about 45 minutes from the airport. Miraflores is the most convenient base, with the clifftop malecón on the doorstep: Belmond Miraflores Park and the JW Marriott both overlook the Pacific, and Atemporal offers a quieter, nine-room stay in a 1940s house near Huaca Pucllana. The Antigua Miraflores, in a 1923 mansion, and Hotel El Patio, a guesthouse in an old quinta, are good mid-range and budget choices.

Barranco suits travellers who want character and nightlife within walking distance. Hotel B, in a 1914 mansion filled with art, and Casa República, in a 1920s house a few doors away, are both close to the Bridge of Sighs and the district's bars. San Isidro is quieter and more residential, and the Country Club Lima Hotel, opened in 1927, is its historic landmark. From all three districts, the historic centre is an easy taxi ride for a day of sightseeing.
