Best Things to do in Lima (2026)

Lima is a city to explore on foot, a district at a time. In Miraflores, walk the clifftop malecón to the Parque del Amor, with Víctor Delfín's sculpture El Beso and its mosaic walls of love poems, and watch paragliders and cyclists along the cliffs. In Barranco, cross the wooden Puente de los Suspiros, first built in 1876, and follow the Bajada de Baños down towards the sea.

In the historic centre, follow Jirón de la Unión from the Plaza Mayor to Plaza San Martín, laid out for the independence centenary in 1921, and continue into the Barrio Chino around Calle Capón, where Chinese immigrants settled from the 1850s and chifa cooking was born. For something more active, head down to the Costa Verde, where beaches such as La Pampilla attract surfers and a cycle path runs along the shore to Chorrillos. Most of these activities are free, and the walks are best done in daylight, finishing with a meal or a drink nearby.
