Why we recommend it

The Sky Garden occupies the top three floors of 20 Fenchurch Street, the City tower nicknamed the Walkie-Talkie. Under a glass dome you find terraced planting, an open-air terrace and wide views across the Thames, the Shard and the Tower of London, with bars and restaurants on the same levels.

Entry is free, but you need to book a timed ticket through the official website, and slots go quickly, so plan ahead. Arrive with photo ID and allow time for airport-style security. If you miss out on free slots, booking a table at one of the bars or restaurants is an alternative way in. Check the website before travelling, as lift works can temporarily reduce capacity. Monument and Bank stations are both a short walk away.
