Why we recommend it

Monmouth Coffee Company has been sourcing and roasting coffee in London since 1978, and its Borough shop, opened in 2001 in a former fruit and vegetable warehouse beside Borough Market, is a fixture of the area. Staff brew coffee to order, and every coffee on sale can be tasted before you buy beans.

Expect a queue on market days; it usually moves quickly. The shop is card only and does not use paper cups, so drink from ceramic, bring a reusable cup or buy one there. Pastries come from respected London bakeries. The shop is closed on Sundays, so combine a visit with the market from Tuesday to Saturday. London Bridge station is a few minutes' walk away.
