Hotel Hassler Roma
Open since 1893 at the top of the Spanish Steps, the five-star Hassler has 82 individually designed rooms and the Michelin-starred Imàgo restaurant.
A small, independent hostel near Termini founded by Linda and Steve in 1999, with private and shared rooms and a courtyard garden.
Good to know
The Beehive was started by Linda and Steve, who moved to Rome in 1999 to open a different kind of hostel, and it remains small, independent and personal. It sits on Via Marghera, close to Termini station, and offers shared dorms and private rooms with shared or private bathrooms, some with air conditioning, plus a courtyard garden, living room and communal kitchen.
The owners put sustainability at the heart of how it runs, from recycled paper products and LED lighting to repurposed furniture and support for local businesses. It is best suited to solo travellers and couples; groups of more than three are not accepted. Reception is open 09:00 to 21:00 rather than around the clock, so let the team know your arrival time in advance.
