Restaurant
Bouillon Chartier Grands Boulevards
A cavernous Belle Époque dining hall on the Grands Boulevards serving low-priced French classics non-stop, every day of the year.
A Saint-Germain brasserie open since 1880, serving Alsatian choucroute, sole meunière and other classics in a tiled Belle Époque room.
Good to know
Brasserie Lipp has stood on Boulevard Saint-Germain since 1880, across the street from Café de Flore and Les Deux Magots, and its mirrored Belle Époque dining room has long drawn politicians, writers and publishers. The cooking reflects its Alsatian origins, with choucroute garnie the dish most people come for, alongside sole meunière and pot-au-feu.
It is open every day from morning until late at night, so it works equally well for a long lunch or a post-theatre supper. Service is brisk and traditional. Reservations can be made online, and a table on the ground floor gives the full brasserie atmosphere.
