Best Restaurants in Nice (2026)

Nice has one of the strongest local food traditions in France, and its restaurants range from socca counters to two-Michelin-star dining rooms. For Niçois classics, La Merenda serves dishes such as stockfish, daube and Swiss chard tart in a tiny old-town room run by a former Negresco chef, while Chez Pipo near the port has baked socca for close to a century. Bistrot d'Antoine and Olive & Artichaut both hold Bib Gourmand awards for good-value cooking in Vieux Nice, Peixes serves seafood small plates near the Opéra, and La Petite Maison is the place for Niçois dishes with a glamorous crowd.

At the top end, Flaveur holds two Michelin stars for its creative cooking, Le Chantecler at the Negresco and JAN near the port each hold one, and Le Plongeoir offers Mediterranean food on a rock above the sea. Many of the most popular restaurants are small, so book ahead, especially for dinner at weekends and in summer. Several of them close on Sundays and Mondays, so check opening days before you plan. Some places, including Chez Pipo and Peixes, do not take reservations, so arrive early. Lunch menus at the starred restaurants are the most affordable way to try them.
