View details — Delirium CaféBrussels is one of Europe's great beer cities, and its nightlife reflects that. Delirium Café, tucked into a cul-de-sac near the Grand-Place, holds a Guinness World Record for the size of its beer list and is the loud, lively heart of a small village of bars. For a more traditional atmosphere, A la Mort Subite, opposite the Royal Galleries of Saint-Hubert, is one of the oldest cafés in the city and a good place to try gueuze, and La Fleur en Papier Doré, once frequented by Magritte and the surrealists, is a protected heritage café near the Sablon.
Newer tastes are well served too. The Brussels Beer Project taproom on Rue Antoine Dansaert pours modern craft beers, while L'Archiduc, an Art Deco cocktail bar founded in 1937 at the other end of the same street, hosts jazz concerts every Saturday and Sunday afternoon and stays open late. Those who want to dance should look at the programme at Fuse in the Marolles, one of Europe's best-known techno clubs. Belgian beers are often strong, so pace yourself, and remember that many bars stay open well after midnight.
