Best Restaurants in Brussels (2026)

Eating out in Brussels covers every budget. At the simplest end, fries are a serious matter: Maison Antoine on the Place Jourdan and Fritland near the Bourse both serve generous cones with a long choice of sauces. For a sit-down Belgian meal, the Rue des Bouchers near the Grand-Place is home to two veterans, Chez Léon, which has served mussels since 1893, and Aux Armes de Bruxelles, open since 1921. In the Marolles, Brasserie Ploegmans keeps neighbourhood cooking alive at fair prices, and Les Brigittines Aux Marches de la Chapelle serves traditional dishes such as veal cheeks in Cantillon beer in a Belle Epoque room.

Brussels also has an impressive fine-dining scene. Bozar Restaurant, inside Horta's Centre for Fine Arts, holds two Michelin stars and is famous for its pastry dishes, while Comme chez Soi, open since 1926, La Villa Lorraine by Yves Mattagne and the Japanese counter restaurant Kamo each hold one star. Book starred restaurants well ahead, and check opening days carefully, as many close on Sundays and Mondays. Mussels are traditionally at their best in the colder months.
