Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice
Bib Gourmand hawker stall at Maxwell Food Centre, serving Hainanese chicken rice with poached chicken, fragrant rice and house-made chilli since 1987.
Riverside branch of the long-running JUMBO seafood group, a classic choice for chilli crab, black pepper crab and other Singaporean seafood dishes.
Good to know
JUMBO is one of the best-known names in Singaporean seafood dining, and its Riverside Point restaurant sits on the Singapore River opposite Clarke Quay. The menu revolves around crab, above all chilli crab in a sweet, spicy, egg-thickened sauce and black pepper crab, alongside cereal prawns, steamed fish and stir-fried vegetables meant for sharing.
Order fried mantou buns to mop up the chilli crab sauce, and expect to get messy: bibs and wet towels are provided. Crab is sold by weight at market price, so ask for the price before ordering. Riverside tables are worth requesting at dinner, and booking is wise for groups. The restaurant is open daily from 11.30am to 11pm, with last orders at 10.15pm.
