Specialty coffee bar and roastery in a former hardware shop on Tyrwhitt Road, one of the cafés that shaped Singapore's third-wave coffee scene.
Chye Seng Huat Hardware takes its name from the hardware business that once occupied this corner building on Tyrwhitt Road, and it has long been one of the anchors of Singapore's specialty coffee scene. The café roasts its own beans and serves espresso drinks and filter coffee from a central bar, with seating spread through the shophouse and out on the covered five-foot way.
Come in the morning to sit near the bar and watch the baristas at work, and ask about the current single origins if you prefer filter. It is open daily from 8.30am, but closes on the first Monday of each month. Lavender and Bendemeer MRT stations are both about ten minutes' walk away.
