Restaurant
Alchemist
Rasmus Munk's two-Michelin-star restaurant in a former theatre workshop on Refshaleøen, where dinner of up to 50 impressions combines food, art and performance.
Rasmus Kofoed and Søren Ledet's three-Michelin-star restaurant on the eighth floor above Fælledparken, serving long seasonal tasting menus with views over the park.
Good to know
Geranium is one of the most celebrated restaurants in the world. It was founded in 2007 by chef Rasmus Kofoed and Søren Ledet, first opening in the King's Garden before moving in 2010 to its present home on the eighth floor of a tower at the Parken stadium in Østerbro. Kofoed won the Bocuse d'Or in 2011, and in 2016 Geranium became the first restaurant in Denmark to receive three Michelin stars. In 2022 it was named the best restaurant in the world by The World's 50 Best Restaurants.
The dining room looks out over the treetops of Fælledparken, and the kitchen describes its style as lucid, light and dynamic. Dinner is a single long seasonal menu, currently presented as an autumn universe, and the restaurant advises allowing at least three hours. Wine pairings are offered at several levels, along with a non-alcoholic pairing, so guests who do not drink alcohol are well catered for.
This is a special-occasion restaurant and priced accordingly, so it suits food lovers who want to experience Nordic fine dining at its most precise, couples celebrating an occasion and travellers who plan a trip around a reservation. It is less suited to anyone who prefers a short, informal meal.
Booking is essential. Tables for two to six guests are released online through SevenRooms up to three months ahead, and a deposit per guest is required to confirm the reservation. Groups of seven or more contact the booking team directly by email or phone, and the booking office answers the phone on weekdays during office hours. The restaurant serves dinner from Wednesday to Saturday and lunch from Thursday to Saturday, and it closes for a summer holiday in July, so check dates when you plan.
The restaurant entrance is at Per Henrik Lings Allé 4, beside the national stadium in Østerbro. Paid parking is available nearby, and many guests arrive by taxi or on foot through Fælledparken. If you arrive early, a stroll through the park before dinner is a pleasant way to start the evening.
Geranium held two Michelin stars from 2013 before gaining its third, so it has been among the top restaurants in Denmark for more than a decade. Tell the restaurant about any allergies or dietary needs when you book, as a long set menu is hard to adapt on the night.
