Restaurant
Geranium

An Italian-inspired restaurant near Sankt Hans Torv in Nørrebro, known for wood-fired pizza, hand-stretched cheeses and charcuterie made from Danish pork.
Good to know
Bæst is an Italian-inspired restaurant on Guldbergsgade in Nørrebro, close to Sankt Hans Torv, that has become one of the best-known places for pizza in Copenhagen. It opened in 2014 in a large space next to the Empire Bio cinema and quickly gained a reputation for doing much of its production itself, from cheese to cured meats. It has an adjoining bakery, Mirabelle.
The restaurant's own description puts the focus on three things: wood-fired pizza, which it says is recognised among the best in Europe, hand-stretched cheeses, and charcuterie made from Danish pork. A typical meal starts with a board of cured meats and fresh cheese to share, followed by a pizza or two from the wood oven, and the atmosphere is informal and busy.
Bæst suits families, groups of friends and anyone looking for a relaxed meal of very good quality without the price of a tasting menu. It is a good choice on an evening in Nørrebro, before or after a film at the cinema next door or drinks in the bars around Sankt Hans Torv and Elmegade.
Dinner is served every day from 17:00 to 22:00, and on Saturdays and Sundays the restaurant also opens for lunch from 12:00 to 14:30. Online tables can run out at peak times, but the restaurant says it always keeps space for walk-ins, so it is worth turning up if you cannot book. Arriving early in the evening gives you the best chance of a table without a wait. Groups can contact the restaurant through the groups page on its website.
Guldbergsgade runs north from Sankt Hans Torv into the heart of Nørrebro. From the city centre it is a short bike ride across the Lakes via Dronning Louises Bro, or a walk of around 20 minutes from Nørreport. Jægersborggade, with its cafés and small shops, is within walking distance.
The restaurant covers around 1,000 square metres, and gift cards are available through the website. Weekend lunch is a useful alternative if evening tables are fully booked. If you want to sample the charcuterie and cheeses properly, come with a group and order several plates to share before the pizzas.
