Restaurant
1. Geranium
Rasmus Kofoed and Søren Ledet's three-Michelin-star restaurant on the eighth floor above Fælledparken, serving long seasonal tasting menus with views over the park.
View details — GeraniumCopenhagen has one of the most respected restaurant scenes in the world, and it caters for every budget. At the top end, Geranium, with three Michelin stars, Alchemist, with its immersive dinner of up to 50 impressions, and Kong Hans Kælder, the city's first Michelin-starred restaurant, require booking weeks or months ahead and a full evening. Barr, in the North Atlantic House where Noma made its name, offers North Sea cooking and an excellent beer list at a gentler pace.
Danish lunch is a tradition every visitor should try. Restaurant Schønnemann has served smørrebrød, herring and snaps since 1877, Palægade offers classic and modern open sandwiches near Kongens Nytorv, and the old tavern Café Halvvejen beside the Round Tower serves herring and Danish classics at modest prices. For relaxed evenings, the Meatpacking District in Vesterbro is home to Kødbyens Fiskebar's seafood and oysters and Mother's sourdough pizza, while Bæst in Nørrebro is known for wood-fired pizza and its own cheeses and charcuterie. Eating out is expensive, so lunch menus, bakeries and markets are a good way to save. Book ahead for weekends and for December, when Danish Christmas lunches fill many restaurants.
