Bar
Le Comptoir Darna
A long-running Hivernage restaurant and club combining Moroccan and Mediterranean dinners with belly dancing, live music and DJs every evening until late.
A restaurant and lounge bar in gardens on the Ourika road south of the city, known for Mediterranean fusion cuisine, cocktails, shows and DJs from 20:00 nightly.
Good to know
Bô Zin is a restaurant and lounge bar set in gardens a few kilometres south of the medina on the Ourika road, and for many years it has been one of the city's best-known places for a stylish night out. It describes its atmosphere as chic but relaxed, and its mix of dining, cocktails, live entertainment and DJs draws a well-dressed crowd of locals and visitors.
The setting combines indoor dining rooms with outdoor terraces among the plants, lit softly in the evening. The kitchen serves Mediterranean fusion cuisine, so expect a menu that moves beyond Moroccan classics, and the bar is a large part of the experience, with an extensive cocktail list. As the night goes on, evening shows featuring local and international artists give way to DJs, and the venue becomes more of a lounge and party space.
Bô Zin suits groups of friends, couples on a special night out and anyone who wants a polished, high-energy evening. It is not a family venue: children under 14 are not admitted. Prices are high by Marrakech standards, so it is best kept for an occasion. Dress smartly, as the crowd makes an effort.
The venue opens every day from 20:00. Reservations can be made through the website, and if you want to book on the same day after 17:00, the venue asks you to call. Arrive for dinner around 20:30 to 21:00 if you want to see the shows from the table, and allow three hours or more for the full evening. Weekends are busiest.
Bô Zin is at kilometre 3.5 on the Ourika road, south of the Agdal Gardens, roughly fifteen minutes by taxi from Jemaa el-Fnaa or Guéliz, depending on traffic. It is not within walking distance of the medina, so arrange a taxi there and back, or ask your hotel to book a driver for the return journey. The Ourika road also leads to Anima Garden and the Atlas foothills, so the area is easy to explain to drivers. Note that the venue focuses on evening service, so it does not suit a daytime visit. Larger groups should book well ahead and mention any special occasion when reserving.
