Restaurant
1. La Habichuela
Downtown Cancún's long-running garden restaurant, open since 1977, serving Yucatecan and Caribbean dishes among Maya-style stelae and statues.
View details — La HabichuelaEating well in Cancún means using both halves of the city. Downtown is where residents eat: Carnitas Don Enrique has served pork tacos since 1974, El Socio Naiz gives the taquería a modern twist on Avenida Nader, and La Habichuela, open since 1977, is the classic garden restaurant for a special dinner. North of the centre, Kiosco Verde, selected by the Michelin Guide, cooks local seafood under a palapa on the road to Puerto Juárez.
In the Hotel Zone, the lagoon side around kilometres 14 and 15 is the main restaurant row. Harry's serves Kobe and wagyu steaks, Puerto Madero runs an Argentine grill, Porfirio's offers contemporary Mexican food with mariachi, and Fred's House specialises in lobster and seafood with private villas over the water. Further north, Lorenzillo's has been the city's live lobster house for more than 35 years, while Navíos serves Mexican fusion seafood on a dock at kilometre 19.5. Several lagoon-side restaurants recommend booking ahead, especially for terrace and dock tables at sunset.
