Restaurant
La Habichuela
Downtown Cancún's long-running garden restaurant, open since 1977, serving Yucatecan and Caribbean dishes among Maya-style stelae and statues.
Grupo Anderson's fine-dining steakhouse on the Nichupté lagoon, serving Kobe, wagyu and USDA Prime beef alongside a raw bar and a late piano bar.
Good to know
Harry's is the Hotel Zone's big-occasion steakhouse, run by Grupo Anderson's, the Mexican restaurant group whose Cancún brands also include Señor Frog's, Fred's, Porfirio's, Ilios, Nicoletta and La Vicenta. It sits at kilometre 14.2 of Boulevard Kukulcán, on the lagoon side of the Hotel Zone, and its dining rooms and terrace look out across the Laguna Nichupté. Harry's has sister restaurants in Playa del Carmen, Polanco in Mexico City, Los Cabos and Acapulco, but the Cancún branch, with its water views, is one of the group's flagships.
The menu is built around premium beef. Harry's serves Japanese Kobe, Australian Jack's Creek wagyu and USDA Prime cuts, and these are the reason most people come. The other half of the name is the raw bar, which brings in fresh and more unusual seafood, so a table can mix seafood starters with a steak to follow. The group describes the experience as fine dining, and prices reflect the quality of the meat.
The restaurant is large, with space for almost 280 guests across a main dining room of about 100 covers, a terrace of around 120 and a lounge and bar for about 60. That size makes it a common choice for groups and celebrations, and the group runs set menus for parties of more than ten. Children are welcome, with a children's menu available on request.
After dinner, Harry's Bar, the in-house piano bar, offers live piano music with a long list of cocktails and appetisers on Thursday to Saturday nights, so you can stay on rather than heading to Punta Cancún. Check the nights before you go, as the restaurant's own pages list them inconsistently.
The restaurant has valet parking, which makes it easy to reach by car or taxi from anywhere in the Hotel Zone. Reservations are made through the booking button on the Harry's website, which also offers a virtual tour that helps when choosing between the dining room and the terrace. Because the official pages give conflicting opening hours, confirm times when you book.
Harry's suits couples marking an anniversary, groups of friends and business dinners. There is also a private lounge for smaller private events, and WiFi throughout.
