Attraction
Sagrada Família
Antoni Gaudí's still-unfinished basilica in the Eixample, Barcelona's defining landmark, with a forest-like nave, two sculpted façades and climbable towers.
The museum Joan Miró created on Montjuïc to house his work, set in a white modernist building by Josep Lluís Sert with roof terraces and sculpture.
Good to know
Miró wanted a centre where his own work could sit alongside contemporary art, and this foundation, opened in 1975, was designed for the purpose by his friend Josep Lluís Sert. The building's white walls, skylights and courtyards suit the bold colour and simple forms of the paintings, tapestries and sculpture on show.
The collection spans Miró's career, and temporary exhibitions bring in other artists. Do not skip the roof terraces, where sculptures stand against views of the city. The museum sits among gardens on Montjuïc; the Montjuïc funicular from Paral·lel metro stops nearby, making it easy to combine with MNAC.
