Café
1. Habibah Sweets
The original Downtown kunafa counter, serving Habibah's famous warm Nabulsi kunafa in its alley since 1951, with queues of locals at all hours.
View details — Habibah SweetsCafé culture runs deep in Amman, from traditional coffee houses serving Turkish coffee and shisha to modern speciality roasters. For a first taste of the city's sweet tooth, queue at Habibah Sweets in its Downtown alley, where kunafa has been served since 1951, then sit over coffee, mezze and live music at Jafra on Al-Amir Mohammad Street.
Jabal al-Weibdeh is the best neighbourhood for café-hopping. Rumi Cafe is the busy social hub on its main corner, Dimitri's Coffee roasts its own beans and has a branch on Al-Baouneyah Street, and Jadal, a cultural space in a 1933 house on the stairs down to Downtown, serves tea with talks and music. Near Rainbow Street, Books@Cafe combines a café, bar and bookshop with a terrace overlooking the Old City. Many cafés stay open late into the evening and are as much social spaces as places to eat. Smoking is common, especially on terraces and in shisha cafés, so ask for an indoor or non-smoking area if that matters to you. Friday mornings are quiet, while evenings and weekends bring the biggest crowds.
