Hotel
Belmond Miraflores Park
An 87-room luxury hotel on the Miraflores clifftop with Pacific views, a heated rooftop pool, a spa and the Tragaluz and Observatory restaurants.
A nine-room boutique hotel in a 1940s family mansion on a leafy residential corner of Miraflores, with a library, house bicycles and evening drinks.
Good to know
Atemporal calls itself a hotelito, a little hotel, and that sums up its appeal. It occupies a restored 1940s Tudor-style house that was built as a family home, with antique wooden floors and curated Peruvian art, on the corner of Calle Arica and Calle Santa María in a leafy residential area of Miraflores. With only nine rooms, it feels more like staying in a private house than in a hotel.
The service is designed around that small scale. A concierge is on site 24 hours a day, and the hotel provides complimentary wi-fi as well as a mobile data hotspot to take out with you. The second-floor library has self-service premium coffees and teas, and international newspapers and magazines, so it is easy to settle in with a book between outings. There is also a salon, a terraced garden lounge and an honesty bar. House bicycles are available for exploring the neighbourhood, and the hotel can arrange its own car and driver for short excursions, as an extra service and subject to availability.
Food is simple and local. Breakfast is a healthy à la carte menu served in the leafy garden rather than a buffet, and there is a menu available around the clock built on locally sourced, natural ingredients. Every evening between 17:00 and 19:00 guests are offered a drink, wine, beer or juice, which is a pleasant way to meet the other guests before heading out to dinner.
The leafy residential setting suits travellers who prefer a residential neighbourhood to a busy commercial street. The Huaca Pucllana pyramid is only a few steps away, San Isidro is close by, and the restaurants of Miraflores, including Maido and Mayta, are a short taxi ride away. Use the house bicycles to reach the clifftop malecón and its cycle paths.
Atemporal suits couples, solo travellers and anyone who prefers a personal welcome to the facilities of a large hotel. The hotel does not list a pool or spa, so it is not the place for a resort-style stay. With so few rooms it can fill quickly, so book early, and ask the concierge to help with restaurant reservations, which are essential at Lima's best-known tables.
