Attraction
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
Abu Dhabi's great white mosque, inaugurated in 2007, with 82 domes, four minarets, a vast hand-knotted carpet and free guided cultural tours for visitors.
A fully air-conditioned indoor theme park on Yas Island, opened in 2018, with six themed lands based on DC superheroes and Warner Bros. cartoons.
Good to know
Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi opened on Yas Island in July 2018 and was recognised by Guinness World Records in 2019 as the largest indoor theme park in the world, a title it has since lost to a park in China. Operated by Miral under licence from Warner Bros. Discovery, it covers around 153,000 square metres, and because everything is indoors and air-conditioned it is one of the most comfortable family days out in Abu Dhabi, even in the height of summer.
The park is divided into six themed lands. Gotham City and Metropolis bring the DC Comics cities of Batman and Superman to life, Cartoon Junction and Dynamite Gulch draw on the Looney Tunes cartoons, Bedrock is the home of the Flintstones, and Warner Bros. Plaza ties the park together. There are 29 attractions in total, including two roller coasters, and each land is designed as a detailed set rather than a simple collection of rides.
Among the best-known rides are Fast and Furry-ous, Batman: Knight Flight, Superman 360: Battle for Metropolis, Justice League: Warworld Attacks and The Flintstones Bedrock River Adventure, which between them cover thrills, simulators and gentler rides. It is worth checking the park's daily schedule when you arrive, so you can plan around shows and the busiest attractions.
The park is best suited to families with children of primary-school age and to fans of the characters, but adults who enjoy themed environments will find plenty to look at. Allow most of a day. Opening hours change through the year, so check them on the official Warner Bros. World website and book tickets in advance; if you plan to visit several Yas Island parks, look at combined tickets. Weekdays outside school holidays are usually quieter.
The park sits at the centre of Yas Island, close to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. The WB Hotel next door was the first Warner Bros.-themed hotel, and staying there or at another Yas Island hotel puts the parks on your doorstep. From the city, a taxi is the easiest way to get there, and the drive also brings Yas Marina and its restaurants within easy reach for the evening.
