Attraction
Singapore Botanic Gardens
Founded in 1859 and inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, these 82-hectare gardens hold a pocket of old rainforest and the National Orchid…
A 105-hectare waterfront garden at Marina Bay, known for its Supertree Grove, two vast glass conservatories and a free evening light show.
Good to know
Opened in 2012 on reclaimed land beside Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay spreads across 105 hectares and has become the defining image of modern Singapore. The outdoor gardens and the Supertree Grove, whose vertical gardens rise between 25 and 50 metres, are free to wander, while the Flower Dome and the misty Cloud Forest conservatories require tickets.
Come late in the afternoon, explore the cool conservatories while the heat peaks, then stay on for Garden Rhapsody, the light-and-sound show in the Supertree Grove at 7.45pm and 8.45pm. The conservatories and the Supertree Observatory each close for maintenance one day a month, so check the calendar before you go. Bayfront MRT station is a short walk away.
The outdoor gardens and Supertree Grove are free; the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and Supertree Observatory are ticketed.
The outdoor gardens are open 5am to 2am daily; the conservatories open 9am to 9pm, with last admission at 8.30pm (Flower Dome) and 8pm (Cloud Forest).
