Why we recommend it

Built for the Orfeó Català choral society and completed in 1908, the Palau is one of the high points of Catalan Modernisme and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The auditorium is lit by natural daylight through glass walls and an inverted stained-glass skylight, while sculpted muses seem to emerge from the stage wall.

There are two ways in: a guided tour during the day, or a ticket for a concert, which lets you hear the hall doing what it was built for. The programme ranges from orchestral and choral music to guitar and jazz. The building sits on a narrow street close to Urquinaona metro; book tours in advance in high season.
