Why we recommend it

Built between 1906 and 1912, Casa Milà earned the nickname La Pedrera, the stone quarry, for its rippling limestone façade. It was Gaudí's last major civil work before he turned fully to the Sagrada Família, and the structure dispenses with load-bearing walls inside, letting each flat take its own shape.

The highlight is the roof terrace, a landscape of stairs and helmeted chimneys, followed by the brick-ribbed attic that explains the building's design and a period apartment furnished as a bourgeois family would have lived. Temporary exhibitions occupy the first floor. Sunset and night sessions are available, and hours shift between summer and winter, so check the official site before planning your day.
