Chatuchak Weekend Market
One of the world's largest weekend markets, with more than 15,000 stalls across 27 sections selling clothes, crafts, plants, antiques and street food.
A riverside shopping and entertainment complex in restored East Asiatic Company warehouses, with a 60-metre Ferris wheel, restaurants and evening market stalls.
Good to know
Asiatique occupies the former docks of the Danish East Asiatic Company, and the restored warehouses now house shops, craft stalls, restaurants and bars. Opened in 2012, it draws crowds in the evening, when the 60-metre Asiatique Sky Ferris wheel lights up over the Chao Phraya.
It is more polished and tourist-oriented than the city's local night markets, but the riverside promenade is a pleasant place for dinner, and attractions include the Calypso Cabaret show and a haunted-house ride. Arriving by river is the most scenic option, so check the official site for current boat arrangements from Sathorn pier near BTS Saphan Taksin. Visit after sunset, when it is cooler and the waterfront is at its liveliest.
