Why we recommend it

Sphere has changed the Las Vegas skyline since it opened in September 2023, and even if you never go inside, you will see it. The venue stands 366 feet high and 516 feet wide just east of The Venetian, and its exterior, the Exosphere, is covered with around 1.2 million LED pucks that turn the whole building into a screen. At night its changing displays can be seen from much of the Strip.

Inside, the main attraction is the wraparound interior screen, which Sphere Entertainment describes as having 16K by 16K resolution and covers around 160,000 square feet above and around the audience. The venue opened with a U2 residency, and its programme now mixes concert residencies with immersive films. The Wizard of Oz at Sphere, an enhanced version of the 1939 film with 4D effects, began screening in August 2025, and recent concert billings have included the Eagles, Backstreet Boys, John Mayer and Metallica. The seated capacity is around 17,600.

The experience is unlike a normal cinema or arena, because the image wraps around and above the audience. Shows and prices change frequently, so check the official calendar before planning a trip around a specific event. Groups of nine or more can get special pricing on Sphere Experiences.

It suits film fans, music lovers and anyone curious about new technology. Book ahead for concerts, which sell out, and arrive early to allow time for security; the venue publishes a bag policy and accessibility services on its website. The 4D effects in the immersive films are part of the fun, but check the age guidance for each show before booking with young children.

Sphere Entertainment owns the venue, which was built on an 18-acre site east of The Venetian. Its exterior display covers about 580,000 square feet, with the LED pucks spaced around eight inches apart, which is why the images are designed to be seen from a distance. Seeing it both from the Strip at night and from inside at a show gives the full picture of how the building works.

Sphere is on Sands Avenue, linked to the Venetian Expo by a 1,000-foot pedestrian bridge, so it is easy to reach on foot from the central Strip. For the best free view of the Exosphere, walk along the Strip near The Venetian and Wynn after dark, or ride the High Roller for an elevated look across the city.
