Why we recommend it
The Lamb & Flag is tucked down Rose Street, a narrow lane off Garrick Street, and is one of Covent Garden's most atmospheric old pubs. Low ceilings, wood panelling and a real fire give it a snug, historic feel that contrasts with the busy piazza nearby.
It is run by Fuller's, with a range of ales and classic pub food served from midday until 21:30, or 20:30 on Sundays. On fine evenings, drinkers spill out into the alleyway outside. It is a handy spot for a pre-theatre pint, but arrive early, as it fills up quickly after work. Families and assistance dogs are welcome. Leicester Square and Covent Garden stations are both a few minutes' walk away.
