Hotel
The Savoy
A landmark luxury hotel on the Strand, open since 1889, with Thames views, the American Bar and the Gordon Ramsay Savoy Grill.
A characterful Georgian townhouse hotel in Soho, named after the essayist William Hazlitt and furnished with antiques and period details.
Good to know
Hazlitt's occupies Georgian houses on Frith Street, one of which was home to the essayist William Hazlitt, and it keeps much of their period character. Bedrooms are named after Hazlitt's friends and acquaintances and are furnished with antiques, panelling and indulgent bathrooms, so no two rooms feel quite the same.
Honesty bars and room service suit the townhouse atmosphere, and Soho's restaurants, bars and theatres are right outside the door. Expect period character rather than modern minimalism; that is part of the appeal. Book directly by phone or email for specific rooms. Tottenham Court Road station, with the Elizabeth line, is a few minutes' walk away.
