Best Attractions in Prague (2026)

Prague's sights are concentrated in a historic centre that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and most of them can be reached on foot. Prague Castle needs the most time: allow at least half a day for St Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, St George's Basilica and Golden Lane, and go early to beat the tour groups. Strahov Monastery, with its Baroque library halls, sits just above the castle and makes a natural pairing, followed by a downhill walk through the Lesser Town past St Nicholas Church to Charles Bridge.

On the other bank, the Old Town Hall and its astronomical clock anchor Old Town Square, and the synagogues and cemetery of the Jewish Museum in Prague lie a few minutes to the north. The Jewish Museum closes on Saturdays, so plan around it. The National Museum at the top of Wenceslas Square is ideal for a rainy day, and the Municipal House can only be seen inside on a guided tour or at a concert. For views, climb Petřín Lookout Tower or the Old Town Hall tower, and spend a quieter afternoon at Vyšehrad, whose basilica, cemetery and ramparts see far fewer visitors. Buy tickets only from official sellers, use early opening discounts where offered, and check websites for seasonal hours and closures.
