View details — AtmosphereEvenings in Beijing range from cocktails high above the city to jazz in the hutongs. Atmosphere, on the 80th floor of the China World Summit Wing in the CBD, is described as Beijing's highest cocktail bar, with live acts and DJs and views across the towers of Chaoyang. For a view of the old city, MO Bar at Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing has an outdoor terrace overlooking the Forbidden City and stays open until 1am from Wednesday to Saturday.
Live music has two strong addresses. Blue Note Beijing, the first Chinese branch of the New York club, occupies an underground hall near Qianmen with shows most nights, while East Shore Live Jazz Café by Houhai has been an intimate home for local jazz musicians since 2006. Craft beer also has deep roots in the hutongs. Great Leap Brewing's original courtyard bar on Doujiao Hutong opened in 2010 and is known for beers made with Chinese ingredients, and Jing-A's Longfusi taproom has 32 taps and brick-oven pizza. The hutong bars of Dongcheng are close enough together for an evening on foot, while Chaoyang suits a night of hotel bars and late venues.
