View details — Raffles Grand Hotel d’AngkorWhere you stay in Siem Reap depends on your priorities. The Old Market and Pub Street area is the most convenient for walking to restaurants and bars, and it has budget favourites such as Onederz, a minute from the Angkor Night Market. Wat Bo, on the east side of the river, is quieter but still central, with boutique hotels such as Viroth's. Svay Dangkum and the road towards Angkor are home to the historic Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor and Amansara, both well placed for early temple starts.
For luxury, the Raffles has been welcoming guests since 1932, Amansara offers 24 suites in a 1960s building once used by guests of King Sihanouk, and Shinta Mani Angkor combines Bill Bensley design with a hospitality training foundation. Sala Lodges is made up of restored Khmer wooden houses, and Jaya House River Park is a plastic-free boutique hotel by the river. Mad Monkey and Onederz both have pools and dorms for budget travellers. Most hotels can arrange airport transfers and temple drivers. Book early for the peak season from November to March, when the best rooms sell out.
