Why we recommend it

The Fes Marriott Hotel Jnan Palace is the city's main international hotel, set in large gardens on Avenue Ahmed Chaouki in the Ville Nouvelle, the modern part of Fes laid out in the 20th century. It suits travellers who prefer the predictability of a full-service hotel, those arriving by car, and anyone combining sightseeing with business or an event. The medina is a short taxi ride away, and the train station and CTM bus station are listed as nearby.

Facilities are extensive by Fes standards. There is an outdoor pool in the gardens, a spa offering a traditional hammam, massages and facial treatments, and a complimentary fitness centre with its own hammam and sauna. The hotel also has meeting and event spaces. Parking is complimentary, with valet parking available, which is a real advantage in a city where the medina is closed to cars. Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is at noon. Note that the parking facilities and garden have been undergoing renovation, so some areas may be affected.

Dining options are varied. Jnan L'Fassi serves Moroccan cuisine with live music from Monday to Saturday evenings, Bouquet Garni offers reimagined French cooking, and Pachamama serves Spanish food with Mediterranean flavours and live entertainment. The Pool Bar and Grill serves barbecue-style dishes by the pool, and the Marriott Café handles breakfast. For drinks, Croon Lounge serves cocktails and tapas until late, and EME Lounge specialises in whiskies and premium cigars. Having so many options on site makes the hotel easy for families and groups.

Fes-Saïss Airport is about 13 kilometres away, though the hotel does not run a shuttle, so arrange a taxi or private transfer. To reach the medina, take a petit taxi to Bab Bou Jeloud or to one of the other gates; the Royal Palace and the Mellah in Fes el-Jdid are also a short ride away. The hotel received a Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice award in 2024.

Choose the Jnan Palace if you want space, a pool, parking and a range of restaurants, and are happy to trade the atmosphere of a medina riad for convenience. Some travellers split their stay, spending a night or two here before or after a riad in the old city.
