Good to know
Night Safari opened in 1994 and is considered the first zoo built specifically for nocturnal animals. Set in humid forest next to Singapore Zoo, it is divided into six geographical zones that you explore on four walking trails or aboard the Safari Adventure Tram, which carries English commentary and passes many of the larger animals.
Gates open at 6pm, but the tram and trails start at 7pm, so arrive early to eat and settle in before dark. All visitors must select a time slot when booking, and weekends get busy, so reserve ahead. Use insect repellent, wear comfortable shoes and keep flash photography switched off. Allow plenty of time to get back from Mandai, as it is far from the centre.
