Good to know
Pak Khlong Talat is the city's central flower and produce market, sprawling along Chak Phet Road and its side streets near Memorial Bridge. Its stalls overflow with orchids, roses and marigolds, as well as the jasmine and marigold garlands that Thais offer at shrines and temples.
The market runs around the clock, but it is busiest and most photogenic in the hours before dawn, when boats and trucks unload fresh flowers from the surrounding provinces. Late evening is also atmospheric and cooler than the daytime. It is within walking distance of Wat Pho and the riverside piers, and MRT Sanam Chai station is nearby, so it fits neatly into a day exploring the old city.
