Café
1. Florencia y Fortunata
A women-led specialty café in a restored colonial house near the Plaza de Armas, buying from women coffee growers and listed among the world's 100 best coffee shops.
View details — Florencia y FortunataCusco's café scene mixes traditional places that have served locals for decades with a new generation of specialty coffee shops sourcing beans from Peruvian farms. Two Cusco cafés were included in The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops in 2025: Three Monkeys Coffee, which grew from a small cart in San Blas into an award-winning roaster, and Florencia y Fortunata, a women-led café near the Plaza de Armas that buys from women coffee growers. For a taste of older Cusco, Café Ayllu has been run by the same family since 1970.
San Blas is the best area for a café crawl. Jack's Café is known for generous breakfasts and queues at lunchtime, and Laggart combines coffee and cakes with an art gallery. For something sweeter, ChocoMuseo above Plaza Regocijo serves hot chocolate and runs bean-to-bar workshops that are popular with families. Many cafés open early, which makes them useful before a tour pick-up, and some of the specialty shops sell bags of beans to take home. Mate de coca, the coca-leaf tea, is on the menu at places such as Morena if you want a warm drink of a different kind.
