Chile stretches for thousands of kilometres along the Pacific between the Andes and the ocean, which gives it some of the most varied landscapes in South America. Most trips begin in Santiago, the capital, whose museums, markets and restaurants are an introduction to Chilean history and food. Nearby, the Maipo and Casablanca valleys produce many of the country's best-known wines, the Cajón del Maipo leads into the Andes, and the port city of Valparaíso and the resort of Viña del Mar sit on the coast. Further afield, travellers head north to the Atacama Desert, south to the lakes, the island of Chiloé and Patagonia, and across the Pacific to Easter Island, Rapa Nui. Chilean seafood, wine and pisco are major attractions in their own right.

Valparaíso and Viña del Mar on the coast, the wineries of the Maipo and Casablanca valleys, the Cajón del Maipo, the Atacama Desert, the lakes and Chiloé, Patagonia and Easter Island.
