Café
Carousel Bakery
A family-run bakery inside St. Lawrence Market, known as the home of Toronto's famous peameal bacon sandwich, with breads, bagels, pastries and hot sandwiches.
A French patisserie founded in 2009 by Lyon-born, fourth-generation pastry chef Nadège Nourian, with its main shop on Queen Street West selling macarons, cakes and croissants.
Good to know
Nadège Patisserie was founded in 2009 by Nadège Nourian, a fourth-generation pastry chef born in Lyon, France, and her partner Morgan McHugh, a Torontonian she met in London. Before opening in Toronto, Nourian worked with pastry chefs holding the French Meilleur Ouvrier de France title and in Michelin-starred restaurants, and McHugh's background in fine arts at OCAD and in building shaped the shops.
The patisserie sells French pastries, macarons, chocolates, ice cream and cakes, and the counters are arranged by large cakes, individual cakes, macarons, bakery items and small sweets. Macarons are a mainstay of the range, while croissants and other viennoiserie make it a good breakfast stop. Seasonal specials change through the year, such as a large pumpkin tart in the autumn, and the shop also runs croissant masterclasses for anyone who wants to learn the technique.
The Queen Street West shop at 780 Queen Street West is the main branch for visitors. It is open from 8am to 8pm from Sunday to Tuesday and from 8am to 9pm from Wednesday to Saturday, with occasional changes for special dates, so it suits both a morning coffee and pastry and a late-afternoon treat. Other branches are on Yonge Street in Rosedale, on Bloor Street West in the Annex, in the Richmond-Adelaide Centre food court in the PATH and in Oakville.
Cakes can be ordered in advance through the head office and order desk, which is useful for a birthday or celebration during a trip.
Nadège suits anyone with a sweet tooth, couples looking for a treat and visitors who enjoy classic French pastry made with care. The range also takes in chocolates and small gourmandise items, and the patisserie supplies customers across the Greater Toronto Area as well as in its own shops. Nourian's background in Lyon and in Michelin-starred kitchens gives the shop a classical French grounding, while the shops themselves reflect McHugh's interest in design. The Queen Street West shop sometimes keeps shorter hours on special dates, as it did on 25 October 2026, so check the website before a late visit.
For the Rosedale and Bloor-Annex shops, check the individual hours on the website, as they differ from Queen Street West.
