Bar
Kabana Rooftop
A rooftop bar and restaurant facing the Koutoubia, serving cocktails, Mediterranean dishes and sushi from late morning until 02:00, with DJs and live music.
A long-running Hivernage restaurant and club combining Moroccan and Mediterranean dinners with belly dancing, live music and DJs every evening until late.
Good to know
Le Comptoir Darna has been one of the fixtures of Marrakech nightlife for many years, and it remains the place many visitors choose when they want dinner and entertainment under one roof. It occupies a large building on Avenue Echouhada in Hivernage, the district of hotels and wide avenues between the medina and Guéliz, with a restaurant, terrace, patio and club spread over several spaces.
The evening usually begins with dinner. The kitchen serves Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine, with familiar dishes such as tagines and couscous alongside grilled meats, fish and international plates, and there is a full bar with cocktails and wine. As the night goes on, the dining room turns into a stage: belly dancers move between the tables, live musicians perform, and later DJs take over, drawing a mixed crowd of visitors and well-heeled Marrakchis.
It is a polished, theatrical night out rather than an intimate bar, and the atmosphere is lively and loud from mid-evening. That makes it ideal for groups of friends, birthday celebrations and couples who want a big night, but less suited to anyone looking for a quiet conversation or travelling with young children. Prices are at the upper end for the city, reflecting the entertainment and the setting.
The restaurant is open every evening from 19:00 to 01:00, and the patio and club continue from 19:00 until 03:00. Book a table in advance, particularly at weekends and in high season, by phone or email, and ask for a table with a good view of the performers if the show is your priority. Dress smartly; the crowd tends to make an effort. Allow at least three hours if you want to see the full evening unfold.
Avenue Echouhada is in the heart of Hivernage, a short taxi ride from Jemaa el-Fnaa and from central Guéliz. Many of the city's large hotels, including the Four Seasons, are nearby, so it is an easy choice if you are staying in this area. Taxis are plentiful outside late at night, and the venue can help call one for the return to the medina. Agree the fare before you get in.
