The Royal Mansour's 23rd-floor Moroccan restaurant, with views over the medina to the ocean and the Hassan II Mosque, and a menu by chef Karim Ben Baba.
Good to know
La Grande Table Marocaine is the place to experience Moroccan cuisine at its most refined in Casablanca. It sits on the 23rd floor of the Royal Mansour Casablanca, the city's palace hotel, and its windows look out over the old medina to the Atlantic and the minaret of the Hassan II Mosque. The view alone makes it one of the most memorable dining rooms in the city.
The à la carte menu was created by chef Karim Ben Baba and draws on the great dishes of Moroccan court cooking. Signature plates include a royal pastilla, m'hamar shoulder of lamb, a spread of Moroccan salads and desserts glazed with orange blossom. For the full experience, the chef's tasting menu, called the Anfa Experience, travels around the country's regions with dishes that may include blue lobster from Oualidia, Tangier-style stuffed sea bream, couscous in the house style and a pastilla with milk cream to finish.
The restaurant is open every day for lunch, from 12:00 to 14:30, and dinner, from 19:00 to 23:00. A weekly lunch menu runs from Monday to Thursday, and on Fridays a couscous menu is served at lunchtime, following the Moroccan tradition of eating couscous on Friday. These lunch options are a good way to enjoy the room and the view at a more accessible price than the tasting menu at dinner.
This is a fine-dining restaurant in a luxury hotel, so it suits special occasions, couples, business meals and anyone who wants to understand how sophisticated Moroccan cuisine can be. Reservations are recommended and can be made by phone or by WhatsApp. Dress smartly, as you would for any top hotel restaurant. Ask for a window table when booking, especially for lunch on a clear day or dinner at sunset.
The Royal Mansour Casablanca is on Avenue des Forces Armées Royales in the city centre, within easy reach of the old medina, the port and Boulevard Mohammed V. The hotel also has a separate rooftop restaurant, Le Rooftop, if you want to continue the evening with a drink higher up. Combine lunch here with an afternoon in the medina or at the Hassan II Mosque, which you will have seen from the window.
