Why we recommend it

Hoogan et Beaufort is in Rosemont, on rue Molson, in a former industrial site that has been converted for new use. The restaurant keeps the red-brick walls from 1904 and the metal framework of the original building, which gives the dining room its character. Chef Marc-André Jetté leads the kitchen, and in 2026 the restaurant received one Michelin star, one of two new stars in Montreal that year alongside Sushi Nishinokaze in Mile End. The guide tags it as a farm-to-table address.

Wood-fired cooking is the house speciality, and the Michelin inspectors note that it extends even to the desserts. Dishes they describe include house-made agnolotti with celeriac and Louis d'Or cheese, a whole duck cooked over the fire on the carcass and served with quince and braised pointed cabbage, and a grilled pear with oats and sweet clover.

Drinks are a strength. The sommelier, Hugo Duchesne, received the Michelin Sommelier Award in the 2026 guide, an award that also recognised his work at Foxy, and the inspectors praise both the wine list and the cocktails, which are offered with or without alcohol. They also highlight the precision and warmth of the front-of-house team.

The restaurant opens for dinner every evening from 5.30pm, closing at 10pm on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and at 10.30pm from Wednesday to Saturday. Lunch is served from 11.30am to 1.30pm Tuesday to Friday. The Michelin Guide places it at the top of its four-step price scale, so this is a special-occasion meal. Book well ahead for weekend dinners, and consider the weekday lunch as a shorter alternative.

It suits couples, food lovers and solo diners, since counter seating is available and the guide notes it as good for eating alone. Sitting at the counter is also the best way to watch the wood-fired cooking up close. There is a car park, and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible. Pets are not allowed, and credit cards are accepted.

The restaurant is at 4095 rue Molson, and the number for reservations and questions is 514-903-1233. Rosemont is outside the downtown core, so plan your journey there in advance, particularly if you are coming for a late dinner.
