Hotel
Fairmont Pacific Rim
A Forbes Five-Star hotel on the Coal Harbour waterfront with 367 rooms and suites, a rooftop pool, a fifth-floor spa and the Botanist restaurant and bar.
The only hotel on Granville Island, on the False Creek waterfront at 1253 Johnston Street, with balcony rooms, penthouses and the all-day Dockside Restaurant.
Good to know
The Granville Island Hotel describes itself as the only hotel on Granville Island, and its position on the water is what sets it apart. It stands at 1253 Johnston Street on the edge of False Creek, with views across the water to the downtown skyline, and boats pass close by. For visitors who want to wake up within walking distance of the Public Market rather than among the towers downtown, it is the obvious choice.
Rooms come in a range of categories. Standard Granville Island Kings and Doubles are joined by Premium Balcony rooms, Superior Waterfront rooms, the Boardwalk Suite and the Waterfront Executive Suite. At the top of the range are two penthouses, the Pelican Bay Penthouse and the False Creek Penthouse, and some suites and penthouses have floor-to-ceiling windows, balconies or terraces. If the view is important, choose a waterfront or balcony category.
The hotel is pet friendly. A dedicated pet-friendly room with a balcony takes up to two pets, and animals are welcomed with treats from the Granville Island Pet Treatery at check-in. Parks and the seawall nearby make dog walks easy.
The Dockside Restaurant, the hotel's own restaurant, is open daily from 7:30am to 11pm, so it covers breakfast through to a late dinner, and it takes reservations online. You can also rent kayaks, boats or bikes to explore False Creek, and the seawall runs right past the hotel. Parking is included with some packages, such as the Arrive, Park and Unwind offer.
The hotel suits couples on a short break, families who want space and calm, and anyone who wants Granville Island's food and arts on the doorstep. Book by phone, toll free on 1-800-663-1840, or by email to the reservations team.
Granville Island itself is the main attraction. The Public Market, open daily from 9am to 6pm, has around 50 vendors selling seafood, produce and baked goods, and the island has artisan boutiques, theatres such as the Arts Club Theatre Company, Granville Island Brewing and the Kids Market. The Aquabus and False Creek Ferries leave from the island for downtown, Yaletown, the West End and Vanier Park, and the seawall continues along the water towards Vanier Park and Kitsilano Beach Park.
