Best Cafés in Vancouver (2026)

Coffee is taken seriously in Vancouver, and Gastown has the densest cluster of good cafés. Nemesis, which began there in 2017, was ranked 15th in the World's 100 Best Coffee Shops in 2026, and its Gastown café on West Hastings Street is a good place for breakfast and pastries. Revolver on Cambie Street serves a rotating menu from guest roasters, while Milano Espresso Lounge on Powell Street focuses on award-winning Italian-style espresso and lets you try several side by side.

Bakeries and roasters are spread across the city. Purebread, which began at the Whistler Farmers' Market, has a large counter of breads, pastries and cakes in Gastown and other neighbourhoods. On Main Street, 49th Parallel's café combines the roaster's direct-trade coffee with Lucky's Doughnuts, made from scratch with seasonal flavours. At Granville Island, the JJ Bean counter inside the Public Market opens at 7:30am, before the market itself. Most cafés open early and close in the afternoon, so plan coffee stops for the morning, and look for beans to take home as a souvenir.
