Best Things to do in Dublin (2026)

Beyond the museums, Dublin is a city best enjoyed through its experiences: its pubs and music, its theatre, its sport and the sea that frames it. Temple Bar is the obvious starting point, a cobbled quarter of pubs, arts venues and weekend markets between Dame Street and the Liffey. Go on a Saturday morning for the food and book markets, before the crowds arrive, and look beyond the pubs to the Irish Film Institute and the Gallery of Photography.

For an evening out with a difference, see a play at the Abbey Theatre, Ireland's national theatre since 1904, or take a tasting tour at the Teeling Whiskey Distillery in the Liberties, the first new distillery in the city in well over a century. Sports fans should not miss the stadium tour at Croke Park, the home of Gaelic games, which includes the GAA Museum. When you want fresh air, take the DART to Howth and walk the waymarked Cliff Path Loop, a moderate clifftop walk with views of Ireland's Eye and Dublin Bay that starts and finishes at the station. Book theatre and distillery tours in advance at weekends, and pack walking shoes and a waterproof for Howth whatever the season.
